DeepSeek Voice Input: How to Talk to DeepSeek on Any Device (2026)

DeepSeek voice input guide banner showing a laptop and phone linked by a golden soundwave

DeepSeek voice input is not something DeepSeek documents for its website: as of 13 October 2026, its own pages describe no microphone button and no spoken conversation mode. You can still talk to DeepSeek by using the dictation built into Windows, macOS, iPhone or Android, which types your words into the message box. This guide shows each route.

DeepSeek voice input: what exists today

We checked DeepSeek’s own pages on 13 October 2026: its home page, download page, API update log and app store listings. None describes a microphone button for the website, or a two-way spoken mode like the voice modes in some rival chatbots.

That does not mean nothing exists. Some third-party guides describe a microphone icon in the mobile app’s message box, and the App Store privacy label lists audio data under user content. DeepSeek’s app store descriptions do not mention voice, so check what your own version shows. We also found no announcement from DeepSeek of read-aloud replies.

WhereWhat DeepSeek’s pages sayBest way to talk to it
WebsiteNo microphone button describedWindows voice typing or Mac Dictation
Mobile appStore descriptions mention no voice featureThe app’s microphone icon if you see one, otherwise your keyboard’s microphone
Desktop (DeepSeek Harness)Lists a Voice input plugin marked Experimental, with no setup stepsCheck its plugin list; use system dictation meanwhile
APIUpdate log mentions no speech featuresAdd a separate speech-to-text step before sending

DeepSeek’s page for DeepSeek Harness, its desktop product, lists that Voice input plugin as official. Setup details are not published, so we have not described any.

In practice, DeepSeek speech to text means a second tool does the listening and DeepSeek receives ordinary text. It is the same pattern as in our guides to dictating to ChatGPT and dictating to Claude AI.

Voice typing in DeepSeek on Windows

Windows 11 has voice typing built in, which gives you DeepSeek voice input on a PC: it types into whichever text box your cursor is in, including DeepSeek’s message box. Microsoft’s voice typing guide gives these steps.

  1. Open DeepSeek and click inside the message box.
  2. Press Windows logo key + H. On a touch keyboard, tap the microphone key beside the spacebar.
  3. Wait for the “Listening…” alert, then speak.
  4. To stop, say “Stop listening” or select the microphone button on the voice typing menu.
  5. Read the text through, then send it as usual.

Microsoft says voice typing needs an internet connection and a working microphone, because speech recognition runs online through Azure Speech services. To change language, go to Start > Settings > Time & language > Language & region, choose Add a language under Preferred languages, then switch with Windows logo key + Spacebar.

Talk to DeepSeek on a Mac

Mac Dictation also types into whatever text box has focus, so DeepSeek voice input works in Safari, Chrome or any other browser. These steps follow Apple’s Dictation guide for macOS Golden Gate; menu names can differ on older versions.

  1. Open Apple menu > System Settings > Keyboard, find Dictation, turn it on and click Enable.
  2. Click inside DeepSeek’s message box.
  3. Press and release the Microphone key, use your Dictation shortcut, or choose Edit > Start Dictation.
  4. Wait for the pulsing cursor or the start tone, then speak.
  5. Press Escape, the Microphone key or the shortcut to stop.

Hold the Microphone key instead of tapping it and Siri opens, if Siri is turned on. Dictation also stops after 30 seconds of silence, with no length limit while you keep speaking. In supported languages it adds commas, full stops and question marks for you. To add a language, click Edit next to Languages under Keyboard > Dictation.

Talk to DeepSeek on iPhone and Android

On iPhone, Apple’s guide to dictating text on iPhone covers the steps for your version of iOS. Open DeepSeek in the app or in Safari, tap the message box and look for the microphone on the keyboard.

For DeepSeek voice input on Android, Google’s Gboard voice typing page describes the same idea.

  1. Open DeepSeek and tap the message box.
  2. Tap the Microphone icon at the top of the keyboard.
  3. When you see “Speak now”, say your prompt.

Google lists spoken punctuation such as “full stop”, “comma” and “new line”, and notes that it may not work in every language. If the DeepSeek app shows its own microphone icon, try it too. DeepSeek does not document how it handles speech, though, so the keyboard microphones above are the route with published steps.

Voice extensions and privacy: what to check first

Searching for DeepSeek voice to text turns up a long list of browser extensions that add a microphone to the DeepSeek page, many from publishers you may not know. We do not recommend any of them. The built-in tools above need no extension at all.

Chrome’s help explains why caution makes sense. Its list of permission alerts flags access to your data on all the websites you visit, and the Install and manage extensions page shows how to restrict an extension under More > Extensions > Manage extensions > Details. If you try one anyway:

  • Prefer an extension limited to specific sites over one with access to all sites.
  • Read the publisher’s privacy policy before you speak a single prompt.

Whatever powers your DeepSeek voice input, DeepSeek still receives what you send. Its privacy policy, updated on 10 February 2026, lists voice input among the inputs it may collect and says personal data is stored in the People’s Republic of China. Keep confidential material out of any prompt unless that is acceptable to you.

A faster way to talk to DeepSeek

Plain DeepSeek voice input has a ceiling. Dictation writes down exactly what you say, so a rambling spoken prompt becomes a rambling typed one, and you still do the composing.

Genie 007 starts one step earlier. In Genie Mode you tell it what you want done, not word by word. You say: “Write a prompt for DeepSeek: three days in Lisbon for two, mid-range budget, no museums, as a table by day.” Genie 007 understands the context and writes the finished prompt in the message box: “Plan a three-day Lisbon itinerary for two adults on a mid-range budget. Skip museums. Present it as a table with one row per day and columns for morning, afternoon and evening.”

Voice typing mode is fast dictation with automatic punctuation and grammar, so you never say “comma”. You can speak in one language and get text in another, across 140+ languages. It works inside Gmail, Outlook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, Notion, GitHub and any website or app, so DeepSeek’s message box is covered.

Genie 007 is private by design and nothing is stored; the prompt you send is still handled under DeepSeek’s policy. Learn more in what is think-to-text. Developers who prompt coding agents can read about voice dictation for Claude Code, and the voice typing guides cover other platforms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you talk to DeepSeek?

Yes, you can talk to DeepSeek by using the dictation built into Windows, macOS, iPhone or Android, which types your spoken words into the message box, although DeepSeek’s own pages describe no two-way spoken conversation mode as of 13 October 2026. You speak, check the text, then send it as an ordinary prompt.

Does DeepSeek have a microphone button?

DeepSeek voice input is not documented for the website, whose pages describe no microphone button, and its app store descriptions do not mention voice features, although some third-party guides report a microphone icon in the mobile app message box, so check what your own app version shows. On the website, use Windows voice typing or Mac Dictation instead.

Is it safe to use voice extensions with DeepSeek?

It depends on the extension, and the safest choice is to avoid unknown ones, because Chrome’s own help says an extension with access to all sites can read and change data on every website you visit, so the dictation built into your device is the lower-risk way to speak to DeepSeek. If you do use one, restrict it to specific sites and read the publisher’s privacy policy first.

How do I use voice typing in DeepSeek on Windows?

Click inside the DeepSeek message box, press the Windows logo key and H together, wait for the Listening alert, then speak your prompt, and say Stop listening or select the microphone button on the voice typing menu when you have finished. Windows 11 voice typing needs an internet connection and a working microphone.
